Waipoua Kauri Forest preserves the largest stand of Kauri in NZ covering 9105 hectares. The Kauri is known as the native giant of NZ. Waipoua means “water from the evening rain”

Your journey commences at Russell via Paihia to Waimate North visiting the the famous Waimate Mission House built in 1830 by Rev.Samuel Marsden. Passing through Kaikohe  (a Maori settlement for many years) to Opononi  and Omapere for lunch via Rawene, then on to the Waipoua Kauri Forest and Tane Mahuta.

From Donnellys Crossing we travel back roads to Kaikohe, Puketi Kauri Forest to Kerikeri, the Stone Store and Mission House. Crossing Haruru Falls we stop at Waitangi Treaty House, returning to Russell.
